Thiruvananthapuram: The lucky winner of Kerala’s biggest lottery Onam Bumper 2022, Sreevaraham native Anoop, has entered into the business of sheer luck. On Friday, Anoop inaugurated his lottery store at Manakkad junction in Thodupuzha.
Currently, Anoop is buying lotteries from nearby lottery agencies for sales. However, he has decided to set up his own agency soon.
Anoop had hit the headlines after winning the Onam bumper worth Rs 25 crore from Kerala State Lotteries Department last year. He said that the lottery brought fortune in his life and hence he would pursue a career of lottery sales. His lottery store has been named MA Lucky Centre, by joining the initial alphabets of his wife Maya’s name and his name.
Anoop, who was an auto rickshaw driver, had continued his profession for a few more days after winning the lottery. At present, his brother is driving his auto rickshaw.
Anoop took lotteries even after winning the Onam bumper and won prizes up to Rs 5000 again.
Several customers rushed on the initial day of his store to buy lotteries from the hand of the lucky man. After winning the lottery, Anoop was troubled by the continuous requests of financial aids from acquaintances to even strangers. This urged him to shift his house for a short time. Later, he bought a new house near Manakkad.
By winning the bumper, he had received a prize money of nearly Rs 12 crore after deducting taxes. Though the lottery department assured Anoop to provide training on how to spend the money judiciously, no actions proceeded later.
