Malappuram: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) state president Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal welcomed Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar’s statement that Muslim organisations must set aside differences and work together.

Musliyar the other day in a media interview said his organisation has always advocated for unity. He noted that the country would advance if everyone worked together. He was reacting to a question on AP Samastha's relationship with the Muslim League.

Sadiq Ali Thangal welcomed Kanthapuram’s statement on the matter and termed it "the need of time.”

“Minorities should stand together. We welcome the noble intention to associate with IUML,” Sadiq Ali Thangal told Mathrubhumi.com. “IUML has always been a public platform for minority community organisations. We just had a friendly talk with the Kanthapuram side. No official decision has been made in the matter. Minorities have been in an atmosphere of fear. Maybe Kanthapuram's call for united treading is part of that context," he said.
