A Suresh, ex-VS Achuthanandan aide, addresses reports of a Congress contest from Malampuzha. He denies a decision, reaffirms Left sympathy, and questions his expulsion

Thrissur: A Suresh, who was personal assistant to former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, has responded to reports that he may contest as a Congress candidate from the Malampuzha constituency. Speaking to the media in Thrissur, Suresh said that no decision has been taken so far.
Suresh confirmed that concerned leaders of KPCC had spoken to him. “It is true that discussions were held. I have not given them any reply yet. I continue to be a Left sympathiser. I stand with the thousands who oppose the erosion of Left values in Kerala,” he said.
He also stated that he was expelled from the party more than a decade ago. “I submitted three appeals to the CPM state secretary and one appeal to the Palakkad district secretary. So far, I have not received any response. I still do not know why I was expelled from the party. I continue to be a Left sympathiser,” Suresh said. When asked who from the Congress had contacted him, he said he was not prepared to reveal that.
Suresh added that it has been 12 years since he was expelled from the party and that he is not prepared to protest against it. “There are thousands in Kerala who believe that the Left must survive and that Left values should not be diluted. The party must be here,” he said.
