Vallyayi (Kannur): The accused in the murder of Vishnupriya (25) was found guilty of breaking into her house, slitting her throat and cutting her veins in Vallyayi near Panoor out of enmity as she had withdrawn from their relationship.
M Shyamjith (28) of Thazhekalathil House at Manantheri is the convict. The sentence will be announced on Monday.
The tragic incident took place on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 12 noon.
During the trial, the prosecution claimed that the murder was premeditated and planned. They also produced CCTV footage showing the accused buying the murder weapon, a hammer, from a shop in Kootuparambu two days prior to the incident. Vishnu Priya's body had a total of 29 wounds.
The police said that Vishnupriya and Shyamjith were in a relationship till two months before the murder. Their break up was what led to the murder.
Shyamjith fled the spot after killing her. Though some natives saw him passing by the road, none of them could identify him. Police narrowed down on Shyamjith based on the information from social media and the phone records of Vishnupriya.
