Thiruvananthapuram: Reiterating that the death of violinist Balabhaskar and his daughter was due to rash and negligent driving, senior CBI official TP Ananthakrishnan has submitted the counter-affidavit before CBI Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday.
Crime Branch had earlier termed the death an accident and it was challenged by the parents of Balabhaskar, KC Unni and B Santhakumari. Following their request, the chief minister handed over the case to the CBI. The parents alleged that a gold smuggling gang in Thiruvananthapuram plotted the accident. However, the CBI report rules out all such possibilities and reiterated the findings of the Crime Branch.
Challenging the CBI report, Balabhaskar’s parents and the witness in the case Kalabhavan Sobi approached CBI court. The counter affidavit has come in view of their plea and it states that Sobi has been trying to mislead the probe from the beginning.
