Thiruvananthapuram: The violence against women health workers continues in the state. In the latest incident, a lady doctor has been attacked in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday night. The doctor working at Gokulam medical centre in Attingal complained that two people who sought treatment there threw footwear at her and also showered abusive words.

The two people arrived at the hospital with an injured hand on Saturday midnight.When they were asked to leave the footwear outside the room, the men were provoked and threw footwear at the doctor and also used abusive words.As the doctor dodged the footwear, it landed on the nurse who was standing next to her.

After that, the duo tried to attack the doctor and the nurse. The security staff at the hospital came to the rescue of the health workers and contacted the police. The police have arrested two persons in connection with the incident. The accused are identified as Attingal natives Anas and Samad.

The Chirayinkeezhu unit of IMA expressed their protest over the incident.This is the second incident of attack against lady doctors reported from Thiruvananthapuram within 2 weeks. Earlier, two people had attacked a lady doctor and security staff at Thiruvananthapuram Fort hospital.

In another incident, a doctor at Aluva in Ernakulam also was attacked. The accused in this case later surrendered before the police. The frequent incidents of attack against doctors have resulted in protests of the doctors' associations.
