Kochi: The Ministry of External Affairs has impounded the passport of actor-producer Vijay Babu, who is accused of sexual abuse by a former colleague. The move was taken following the request submitted by Kochi City Police to the centre. City Police Commissioner C H Nagaraju informed that since the passport has been impounded, Vijay Babu's visa will also stand cancelled. The UAE Embassy will be informed of this matter through the Indian Embassy. Commissioner Nagaraju said that under the new circumstances Vijay Babu will be nabbed by the UAE police and sent back to Kerala.
However, it is not clear whether he is still in UAE. It is hinted that he has fled to another country, but there has been no official confirmation on this.
An actress, a former colleague of Vijay Babu, had accused him of sexual misconduct. Police registered a case against Vijay Babu on April 22 based on the complaint filed by the actress. The complainant said that Babu committed the offence on the pretext of offering the survivor roles in movies.
