Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government on Monday is expected to release official order in connection with the vigilance probe against Opposition leader VD Satheesan over alleged Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) violation. The order will have the name of the official assigned to the probe. The probe will be led by a special unit that has jurisprudence to examine matters across the state.
However, it is learnt that there is a lot of ambiguity among vigilance department insiders on how to pursue the case. It may be noted that though the complaint is against a people’s representative, no government fund has been misused. According to experts, vigilance can only have a primary probe and submit the report, just to infer whether there are any irregularities.
The probe is over the complaint lodged by Kathikudam Action Council, Chalakudy. Satheesan is accused of violating FCRA in a housing project launched after the 2018 Floods to construct homes for those who lost their houses in the disaster. Satheesan maintains that he has not pooled any money from abroad.
