Kozhikode: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Kerala (VACB), on Sunday nabbed an inspector of the Motor Vehicle Department for accepting a bribe here on Sunday.
Abdul Jaleel, MVI of the Sub-RTO office in Feroke, was nabbed by VACB officials while accepting Rs 10,000 from a person at his residence in Azhinjilam.
Jaleel had earlier demanded a bribe from the proprietor of a Vehicle Pollution Testing centre here. He asked the person to visit his house and hand over the sum. The VACB officials accompanied the complainant and caught Jaleel red-handed.
Jaleel had recently blocked the login credentials of the vehicle pollution testing centre. He blocked the ID by claiming the owner was not present when the inspection was conducted at the centre.
He also demanded Rs 10,000 from the owner to return the ID. The owner notified the incident to VACB, leading to Jaleel's arrest. VACB officials claim that several complaints were previously lodged against the accused.
