Pandalam: Senior CPM leader K P Chandra Sekhara Kurup (aka K P C Kurup) died at the age of 81. He had served as the party’s district secretariat member in the past. The veteran communist leader was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kallissery for age-related illnesses. He passed away at around 8:15 PM on Sunday.
K P Chandra Sekhara Kurup became part of active politics by taking part in protests in Pandalam in 1970s. In his prime days, K P C Kurup was part of the CPM Adoor taluk committee as well.
He had also served as the district president of a farmers’ group in Pathanamthitta, a CITU leader and also as the president of the Pandalam service cooperative society.
He is survived by wife Rama Devi, who is a retired teacher.
