A broad understanding has reportedly been reached on the portfolios of those almost certain to be inducted into the United Democratic Front government led by VD Satheesan.

Senior leader Ramesh Chennithala is almost certain to get the Home and Vigilance portfolios. Chief Minister-designate VD Satheesan is expected to handle the Finance and Ports departments.

There are indications that PC Vishnunath, who won from Kundara, may be given the Electricity portfolio.

From the Indian Union Muslim League, PK Kunhalikutty, who is set to become a minister, may handle the Industries and IT departments.

Bindu Krishna, elected from Kollam, is being considered for the Social Welfare and Women & Child Development portfolios, while K Muraleedharan may become Health Minister.

The Excise department may go to M Liju, while the Transport portfolio is likely for C P John. Sunny Joseph is likely to become Revenue Minister, and AP Anil Kumar may get Tourism.

Shibu Baby John is likely to become Labour Minister.

Though Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan is being considered for the Speaker’s post, reports suggest he is reluctant to accept it. Shanimol Usman is also being considered for the Deputy Speaker position.

Alongside discussions on ministerial berths, talks on portfolio allocation are continuing at the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters.

Anoop Jacob and Mani C Kappan are likely to be offered ministerial positions on a rotational basis. Though both have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction, the decision is unlikely to change.

Among the League nominees, there are indications that AKM Ashraf and VE Abdul Gafoor may also be given ministerial posts on a rotational arrangement.
