Varkala, Kerala: A Kasaragod–Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express collided with an autorickshaw at Akathumuri on Tuesday.
The incident happened around 10 pm. The autorickshaw reportedly entered the railway platform area and toppled onto the tracks.
The autorickshaw driver, identified as Sudhi, fled the scene after the vehicle fell onto the tracks. He was later traced and taken into custody by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Following the accident, the train was halted for nearly an hour. Services resumed after the autorickshaw was removed from the tracks. As a result, the train, scheduled to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram at 10.40 pm, reached Thiruvananthapuram Central at around 11.50 pm.
