Kozhikode: Vadakara-based vlogger Muhammed Nihal, popularly known as 'Thoppi', was taken into police custody on Tuesday evening after allegedly pointing an air pistol at private bus employees during an altercation. Two associates, Sarath S Nair and Muhammed Shameer, were also detained in connection with the incident.
The confrontation occurred on the Vadakara-Kainatty National Highway as Nihal was traveling to Kozhikode. Allegedly, a private bus approached his car carelessly, prompting Nihal and his companions to follow the bus to the Vadakara bus stand. There, a heated argument ensued, during which Nihal reportedly brandished an air pistol that does not require a license.
Bus workers managed to intercept Nihal and his associates as they attempted to leave the scene, subsequently handing them over to the police. Despite the seriousness of the incident, authorities released all three individuals after no formal complaint was filed by the bus employees.
The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the responsibilities of social media influencers. Authorities urge individuals to handle disputes through lawful channels and avoid actions that could escalate tensions or pose threats to public safety.
