
Thiruvananthapuram: The mega vaccination camp being held at the Jimmy George indoor stadium in Thiruvananthapuram witnessed huge rush on Monday. Long queues can be seen in front of the camp with people jostling for space violating Covid protocol. Though online registration was made mandatory, the crowds did not maintain social distancing. In the midst of this, 2 people fainted and collapsed on the ground.
People have reached the venue from morning 7 am itself and were trying to get inside the vaccination camp pushing and without adhering to Covid protocol. The huge rush was witnessed as people who were given different time slots reached the venue at the same time. Police took efforts to maintain the crowd and many were seen shouting at each other.
The camp had decided to vaccinate as many as 2000 people and majority of them reached to get their jab. The vaccination camp began at 10 in the morning but even before that people reached the venue. The authorities decided to issue tokens to reduce the rush but it was of no use. War of words also ensued between the people and the police officials.
