BEVCO announces an Onam bonus of up to ₹1.05 lakh for its employees despite reporting financial losses this fiscal year.

Thiruvananthapuram: Onam bonus for Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) employees has been announced, exceeding ₹1 lakh once again this year. The maximum bonus amount is set at ₹1,05,000, reflecting an increase of ₹2,500 compared to last year. The decision was finalised during talks with Excise Minister M Liju.
It was also decided to disburse an advance of ₹50,000. The bonus for employment exchange workers has been raised by ₹250 to ₹6,250, while sweepers will receive ₹6,750. In addition, security personnel at the head office and warehouses will be granted ₹13,000.
As of March 31 last year, BEVCO was in profit by ₹124.10 crore. However, following the introduction of a gallonnage fee, the Corporation reported a loss of ₹281.95 crore by March 31 this year. The Minister assured that the gallonnage issue will be thoroughly examined, referred to the Finance Department, and resolved to reduce the burden.
Last year as well, BEVCO staff received a record Onam bonus, with permanent employees taking home ₹1,02,500.
