Malappuram: A section of the six-lane National Highway 66 under construction collapsed on Monday between Kooriyad and Kolappuram on the Kozhikode–Thrissur route.

The incident happened near the Kooriyad service station, where part of the highway fell onto the service road. The protective wall of the road came down on top of a car passing below.

Three cars were involved in the accident, but no injuries or casualties were reported.

Following the incident, traffic from Kozhikode to Thrissur via Kolappuram and Kakkad has been completely blocked. Authorities have advised vehicles to take the alternative route through Vk Padi in Mampuram to Kakkad.
