UDF in Kollam faces internal conflict as two candidates vie for the Myladumpara ward seat

Kunnicode: The United Democratic Front (UDF) is facing an unusual situation in Myladumpara, Melila panchayat, with two candidates claiming its nomination.
D Anitha Kumari, the sitting Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) member, is contesting using the spade and stoker symbols, while Congress candidate S Rohit is running under the Indian National Congress (INC) ‘Hand’ symbol in the same ward.
Both candidates are actively campaigning, going door to door and displaying posters to seek voter support. Despite interventions from UDF leaders attempting to settle the confusion, neither candidate is stepping aside.
UDF officials stated that the matter will be addressed through high-level discussions to find a resolution.
Kerala’s local body elections will be conducted in two phases, with polling on December 9 and 11 and vote counting scheduled for December 13.
