
Palakkad: The UDF organised protest programmes across the state in response to the midnight raid conducted on the hotel rooms of Congress leaders in Palakkad. A protest march to the SP office in Palakkad turned violent when UDF workers as a scuffle occurred between the police and udf workers during the march.
The police had set up barricades to stop the protesters, but the workers attempted to climb over them, leading to a scuffle.
KPCC President K. Sudhakaran inaugurated the protest meeting at Forte Ground, Palakkad. MPs V.K. Sreekantan, N.K. Premachandran, and Shafi Parambil also addressed the gathering. After the protest meeting, the workers, led by UDF leaders, marched towards the SP office. When the police erected barricades to block their path, tensions escalated, and a scuffle broke out between the protesters and the police.
In his inaugural speech, K. Sudhakaran alleged that the raid was preplanned. He stated that the Congress would address the raid both legally and politically. He also announced that various DCCs would hold protest marches and meetings across the state on Wednesday.
The police had conducted a midnight raid on the rooms of Congress leaders staying at the KPM Regency Hotel in Palakkad. When the police attempted to enter the rooms of women leaders, it led to a commotion, with workers and leaders confronting the police.
