Chalakudy: Two people died in a wild elephant attack near Athirappilly in Thrissur district. The deceased have been identified as Satheesh (34) and Ambika (30) from Kadar Colony in Vazhachal. The attack took place in the Vanchikadavu area near Athirappilly.
The incident occurred when the two had gone into the forest the previous day to collect forest produce. As they did not return by night, a search was conducted the following morning, during which their bodies were found by the local residents.
On Sunday night also, a youth was killed in another wild elephant attack at Athirappilly. The deceased has been identified as Sebastian (20), son of Thampan from the Adichilthotti area. The incident took place around 10 pm on Sunday, when Sebastian and his friends were returning after collecting honey from the forest, and they were attacked by a wild elephant.
