Two people from Kerala were among those killed in a speedboat accident in Vietnam. The deceased have been identified as A.C. Thomas, owner of Victory Group (business), and his wife, Loveni Thomas. Both were natives of Kottarakkara in Kerala.

The Indian Embassy in Vietnam has released the list of all 32 passengers who were on board the boat, along with the names of those who lost their lives. Of the 15 people who died, two were from Kerala, three from Andhra Pradesh, and ten from Tamil Nadu.

The accident occurred at around 10.30 a.m. local time near Phu Quoc Island, a popular tourist destination in Vietnam. The speedboat was carrying 32 Indian tourists, three crew members, and one attendant. Twenty-one people were rescued.

According to reports, the speedboat lost control after encountering rough sea conditions and capsized approximately 400 metres from the shore. The vessel, operated by Ocean Pearl Island Company, is believed to have overturned due to strong waves and high winds.

A control room has been established to coordinate rescue efforts. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed their condolences following the tragedy.
