Cannabis plant grown in kitchen, Accused Aparna and Alan

Kakkanad: District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) arrested two persons for growing cannabis in the kitchen of their flat. The accused were identified as Konni native Valyathekkethil Alan (26) and Kayamkulam native Puthanpurakkal Aparna (24).

The cannabis plant was seized from a flat at Nilampathinjamughal in Kakkanad. The four-month-old cannabis was one-and-a-half metre tall and was planted in the kitchen. A LED light and an exhaust fan were fixed near the plant. Police raided the flat after receiving secret information about cannabis use in the flat.

Police officials took Alan’s neighbour Amal (28) as witness to record his statement. Amal was residing in the nearby flat. Interestingly, police seized ganja from him too as they got suspicious of his behaviour.

The raid was conducted under Infopark SI Vipin Das and SI James John after receiving the order of deputy commissioner S Sasidharan.
