Kochi: Social activist and Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi has bagged the Thampan Thomas Foundation award for contributions to society.

The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, stone plaque and a Certificate of Merit. Gandhi will receive the award at the ceremony on January 15 at Aluva in Ernakulam.

Magsaysay Award winner Sandeep Pandey, Mathrubhumi MD MV Shreyams Kumar among others will attend the event.

After the ceremony, Tushar will lead a discussion on the topic: Where is India heading? (India Engott?)
