The estimated cost for the interconnection, based on cost-sharing arrangements, has been submitted by the Metro authorities.

Tripunithura, Kerala: A skywalk is set to be constructed to connect the Tripunithura Railway Station with the Kochi Metro Station.
The general layout plan for this project has been submitted by Kochi Metro authorities to the Railways.
According to Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Divyakant Chandrakar, in a communication to MP Hibi Eden, the proposal has been recommended for consideration under the Southern Railway’s umbrella projects for 2025-26.
The Railways have granted permission to carry out work on Railway land. However, the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has not allocated a budget for this purpose, as stated in the reply to MP HIbi Eden. The estimated cost for the interconnection, based on cost-sharing arrangements, has been submitted by the Metro authorities. Previously, no such proposal had been under consideration by either the Railway or Metro authorities.
HIbi Eden had requested Kochi Metro Managing Director Loknath Behera to take the necessary preliminary steps to construct a skywalk connecting Tripunithura Railway Station with the Metro.
The reply also included details regarding the reopening of a gate at Tripunithura Railway Station. According to Railways, the gate, previously used by passengers to exit the station, had never received official approval, and the path was informally constructed during ongoing operations.
The Railways noted that this unauthorised entry point poses a safety risk to passengers. Therefore, closing the gate is essential, and installing a formal gate at this location is considered impractical, the Divisional Railway Manager informed Hibi Eden.
