Kochi: The family of an autistic child has come out against the alleged insensitive conduct of a Travel Ticket Examiner in Venad Express. The child’s father has filed a complaint with Railways and the grievance portal over the incident.

As per the complaint, the alleged incident happened on Friday. Kottayam native Sreejith, his wife and their autistic daughter were travelling to Changanassery. They were returning from Shoranur after the hospital visit as a part of the child’s treatment. The child started to cry and throw tantrums after the train left Angamaly station. Over that, the TTE raged against the child’s mother and told her that the child is creating a nuisance for the other passengers.

According to Sreejith, they booked train tickets under the reservation quota for differently-abled and the official was aware of the child’s condition.

“We had been relying on train for the treatment related travel and had confidence that child will be considered at least as a human being. The official withered our confidence within a moment,” he said.

He pointed out that the co-passengers were very comforting after knowing the child’s condition and this is the first time that they are facing such an ordeal.

"My wife Ambili is in utter distress over the incident and she says we shouldn't take our child for a train journey anymore,” he added.

The family has been urging authorities to take strict action against the TTE over her inhuman act. The official should get maximum punishment and no other child and parent should face such humiliation, they said.
