Tragedy in Thrissur as a Gulf expat and his daughter die in a family mass suicide attempt triggered by financial distress.

Kunnamkulam (Kerala): A mass suicide attempt has been reported in Kunnamkulam of Thrissur, where a family of four attempted to take their own lives at their residence near MD College in Pazhanji. A man and his daughter died in the incident. The deceased have been identified as Sibi, an expatriate, and his daughter Aleena. Sibi's wife and son have been admitted to hospital in a critical condition.
Sibi, who was working in the Gulf, had returned home only the previous day after losing his job. Preliminary reports suggest that severe financial distress drove the family to take this drastic step. Sibi's body was recovered from a well, while Aleena was found dead by hanging. Reports indicate that both had also consumed poison.
Sibi's wife Beena and their son Adithyan were rushed to the hospital. The incident came to light after 17-year-old Adithyan panicked and alerted the police.
