Kasaragod: National Highway to be closed for a duration of ten and a half hours, impacting travel from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, in Kasargod. The closure is orchestrated to facilitate the ongoing construction of a flyover in Kasaragod city, an integral part of the National Highway development project.
The closure, spanning from 9:00 pm on Wednesday to 7:30 am on Thursday, encompasses a stretch of 150 meters between Nullipady Ayyappa Bhajana Mandiram and Kasaragod New Bus Stand.
Complicating matters, a legal dispute over compensation related to the demolition of Mundol Arcade, a building near the new bus stand, has constrained space availability for setting up machinery. Consequently, the machinery required for concreting will have to be installed on the service road on both sides of the national highway, leading to the closure, said the officials from the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS), the construction contractor responsible for the project.
To mitigate the impact on traffic, diversions will be implemented. Vehicles approaching from the Mangaluru side will be rerouted from New Bus Stand Junction via MG Road, through the Kanhangad-Kasaragod State highway. Police authorities have also arranged diversions for vehicles arriving from the Cherkala side, to direct them via Vidyanagar Chowki Uliyathadukka road and Madhur Road.
