Congress leader Muraleedharan criticises Rahul Mamkootathil sharply, warning that non-compliance with party directives will have consequences.

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader K Muraleedharan has launched a scathing attack against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, marking one of the strongest criticisms from within the party against him. His remarks came amid a surge in complaints against Rahul who is currently at large to evade arrest in a rape case. Muraleedharan told the media that there is no longer any hope regarding Rahul, declaring “give him the boot”. He added that KPCC is preparing to take strict action against Rahul.
The survivor had formally submitted a complaint to the KPCC president who forwarded it to the DGP, Muraleedharan pointed out. While normally party matters are handled internally, since Rahul is facing suspension, the KPCC president is forced to hand it over to the DGP, he added. Muraleedharan also noted that the party would take a decision regarding Rahul as soon as possible.
Although suspension in Congress is generally considered a corrective measure, in this case, there is no scope for reinstatement. “There is no chance for Rahul to return,” Muraleedharan said, adding that it is now time to apply a “Brahmastra” metaphorically.
When Rahul was suspended, there were no formal complaints against him in either the government or the party. Today, formal complaints exist, and it is up to Rahul to decide whether to continue as an MLA, otherwise action will be taken by the Speaker. Once the party breaks the relationship, it holds no responsibility, he said.
Muraleedharan emphasised that anyone who does not follow party directives is outside the party. The party’s instructions are meant for public service, not for illegitimate things. A person who does not work for the people, even if they are a public representative, cannot perform such duties. “Let him go, and those loyal to him can also step aside,” Muraleedharan added in strong terms.
