Tirur: A large gathering of 2,800 children assembled at Thunchan Parambu in Tirur on Sunday to take part in Vidyarambham, an initiation ceremony that is performed before a child begins their formal education. The event commenced early at 4:50 a.m. and concluded by noon.

The Saraswati Mandapam was filled with prominent literary figures who guided the children in writing their first letter. The notable figures who guided students write their first letters were Alankode Leelakrishnan, Manamboor Rajan Babu, K.S. Venkatachalam, Dr Anil Vallathol, K P Ramanunni, Rajani Subodh, G K Rammohan, T D Ramakrishnan, Kanesh Poonoor, Anees Basheer (son of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer), and Dr Ashok A D'Cruz. 

Simultaneously, at the Krishnasila Mandapam, writers including Vazhuthacaud Murali, Prajesh Panicker, and P C Satyanarayan attended the event. 

A gathering of 85 poets came together at the Thunchan Memorial Hall to mark the beginning of the poets’ Vidyarambham. Alankode Leelakrishnan, Manamboor Rajan Babu, Madhavan Puracheri, and Anil Kovilakam led this session.

K P Risa Fathima stood out during the event by winning a spelling competition and was awarded Rs 5,000 along with a certificate in recognition of her achievement.

Thunchan Memorial Trust Chairman, M.T. Vasudevan Nair, was absent from the ceremony and could not attend due to health reasons. Since taking over as chairman, this marks the second time M.T. has been unable to attend an educational event, as he was also abroad during a previous gathering.
