Thrissur: Mild earthquakes were experienced in parts of Palakkad and Thrissur on Sunday early morning. The incident happened at around 3:56 AM.
Residents of places such as Kunnamkulam and Choondal said that the earthquake lasted over just a few seconds.
These regions had experienced mild tremors yesterday as well.
A magnitude of 3.0 was recorded on the Richter scale on Saturday, as tremors were felt in areas including Kunnamkulam, Chavakkad, Guruvayur, Kechery, Kottol, Kadavallur, Akkikkavu, Kadangode, and Erumapetty.
Locals said that they experienced a brief but intense vibration accompanied by a loud noise, causing some to rush out of their homes in panic. However, no damage has been reported so far.
Yesterday, a similar incident was reported in Palakkad as well, as tremors were felt in Velur, Mundur, and Thirumittakode areas, this was also accompanied by a loud noise.
The earthquake had lasted approximately three seconds with no reports of any adverse incidents.
Officials of the state Geology Department and others had gone to the sites to study the incidents further. (With inputs from agencies)
