Chalakudy: In a unique protest against non-payment of salary, M C Aju, KSRTC driver at Chalakudy depot, submitted a leave application, asking for 3 days off for engaging in daily wage labour.

Requesting leave on July 13-15, Aju said that he won’t be able to come to work on those days since he did not even have money to fill petrol in his bike. He added that he will be engaged in menial jobs on those days, so as to earn some money for himself.      

Aju, who later on withdrew the leave application, said that he committed the act out of sheer distress, to register his protest against non-payment of salary.
