Kochi: Three teenage girls who went missing from an orphanage for underprivileged girls at Thottakkattukara near Aluva on Thursday morning have been found.
The police found the girls from Thrissur.
It is learned that the girls left the orphanage voluntarily. The police team has returned to Aluva with the girls.
The girls, aged 15, 16 and 18 years, were found missing from the orphanage early in the morning, and the police were informed around 7.30 am, an officer of Aluva East Police Station said.
A case of missing persons was registered, and an investigation was launched to find out the whereabouts of the teenagers, police said.
According to the police, it was around 4.30 am that the people of the institution came to know about the disappearance of the girls. After checking the CCTV of the institution, the authorities found that the three girls went out around 12.30 am. Later, they informed the police about their disappearance.
The police started their investigation on the basis of the CCTV footage of the area. As per the police, many more girls are currently residing in the orphanage in the Ernakulam District.
