Chinnakanal: Three members of a family, including a mother and her daughter, died in an accident at Chinnakanal in Idukki on Friday.

According to police, Anjali (25) from Thidinagar, her daughter Ameya (4) and their relative Jensi (21) lost their lives when the scooter they were traveling on lost control and fell down to depth at around 5 pm while coming down a curved road near Tank kudi here.

It was a winding road and it seems the vehicle lost control while navigating an S curve, plummeting some 20 feet down onto the next road below, said the police.

Anjali and Ameya were admitted to Adimaly Taluk Hospital. However, their lives could not be saved. Severely injured Jensi was moved for further treatments to Theni Medical College where she succumbed to her injuries later.

The trio had gone to take part in some festivities near the area. (with PTI inputs)
