Thodupuzha: Maintaining his firm position against corrupt politics, CPI senior leader K.K. Sivaraman pointed out that individuals who start out with nothing in Left politics are now becoming millionaires and billionaires. He made this statement in a recent post on his Facebook page.

"Even in the Left, the number of people turning politics into a profitable business is increasing. While assessing the parliamentary election debacle honestly, do not lose the Communist sense to recognise this stark reality. Don't forget Lenin's words that Communists should have guns in their hands to fight against the class enemy and against class traitors who betray the movement from within their own movement,” wrote Sivaraman, the CPI state councillor,  in his Facebook post.

“There were people like P K Vasudevan Nair and K R Gouriamma who inspired the workers, youth, farmers and students towards the Communist movement. But today there are no such models,” observes Sivaraman.

Sivaraman had criticised the CPM when the LDF suffered a heavy defeat in the parliamentary elections.

Sivaraman was removed from the post of the LDF Idukki district convenor by the LDF. The action is as per the decision of the CPI State Executive. The party's move against Sivaraman comes in the context of criticism from the LDF itself that he is expressing opinions on social media in violation of front etiquette.

The CPI, however, explained that the action is based on the decision of the state committee that in all the three districts where the party has the position of district convener, the respective district secretaries should be the conveners.

District Secretary Salim Kumar will replace Sivaraman as LDF district convener.
