Thrissur: Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath of Thrissur archdiocese said that India has the best constitution in the world and it is facing serious challenges. This is the time to hold the constitution close and raise voices, it is never too late to respond, he said.

Let this voice rising from Thrissur spread in Kerala and to the rest of the country, he added. He was inaugurating the community vigilance meeting held by the archdiocese ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Thrissur.

The conference condemned the persecution of Christians and the constant attacks on Christian institutions and missions. Discrimination and illegal norms exist in the execution of minority welfare schemes in the state, he said. The resolution passed by the meeting displays anger at the government’s stances.

He demanded that the government take immediate steps to avoid the threat of wild animal attacks in the hilly areas and solve the problems rampant in the agricultural sector. The meeting also protested the non-publication of the Koshy commission report.
