The Thiruvananthapuram sessions court has granted conditional bail to Sandeep Varier and Ranjitha Pulikkal in case related to the disclosure of survivor’s identity on Facebook.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram sessions court on Friday granted conditional bail to Sandeep Varier and Ranjitha Pulikkal in a case related to the disclosure of the identity of a survivor who had filed a complaint against MLA Rahul Mamkoothathil alleging assault.
Principal District and Sessions Court Judge S Nazeera allowed bail to both accused, imposing conditions that they must not influence witnesses and must not be involved in similar offences. The court also stayed their arrest until a final decision is taken on the bail petitions.
Ranjitha Pulikkal, Mahila Congress Pathanamthitta district secretary, is listed as the first accused in the case for revealing the survivor’s identity on social media. Sandeep Varier is named as the fourth accused. The fifth accused, Rahul Easwar, has already been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the prosecution, a photograph of the survivor had earlier appeared on Sandeep Varier’s Facebook account. Following developments in the Rahul Easwar case, Varier allegedly shared the information again through a note before later removing the image.
The cyber police have registered a case against six persons, including Varier, based on a complaint filed by the survivor. The charges include disclosure of the survivor’s identity, insult to the dignity of a woman, and criminal intimidation.
