Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has issued a passenger advisory announcing the temporary suspension of flight services due to the planned airspace closure for the Navy Operational Demonstration 2025. According to the notice, all flight operations at the airport will be halted daily from 16:00 hrs to 18:15 hrs, starting 27 November through 3 December 2025.
Airport authorities have urged passengers to consult their respective airlines for updates on revised flight schedules during this period. The suspension is in place to facilitate the safe conduct of demonstration activities by the Indian Navy. Travellers flying to and from Thiruvananthapuram are advised to adjust their plans and stay informed on possible rescheduling to avoid inconvenience.
Officials thanked passengers for their cooperation and understanding as essential airspace restrictions support national operational requirements.
Navy Day 2025 Operational Demonstration
The Indian Navy will mark Navy Day 2025 with a spectacular operational demonstration on December 3, held at Shangumugham beach instead of traditional naval stations. This initiative follows previous successful editions in Puri, Odisha, and Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, aiming to give citizens a direct view of the Navy’s multi-domain operations and advanced platforms. The demonstration will feature coordinated manoeuvres involving frontline ships, submarines, and aircraft, showcasing the Navy’s ability to deliver power and precision across the maritime spectrum.
Focus on Indigenous Defence and Maritime Security
Reflecting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, the demonstration will highlight state-of-the-art, indigenously built naval assets, underscoring India’s progress in self-reliant defence manufacturing. The event is designed to reinforce the Navy’s role as the ‘Preferred Security Partner’ in the Indian Ocean Region and is guided by the MAHASAGAR doctrine (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions), making a statement about India’s growing maritime strength and technological capabilities.
