Thin plastic rope tied across road puts Idukki couple in trouble, fingers point at PWD’s laxity

Thodupuzha: A thin plastic rope that was tied across the road without any indication mark left the Idukki couple on the bike in trouble.

The incident happened on Saturday morning when Johny and his wife were on their way to buy medicines.

As construction works were progressing at Karikkode- Kallanickal road, a thin plastic rope was tied to regulate the traffic in the stretch.

The rope was apparently invisible and it strangled Johny’s neck. The couple toppled on the road as Johny lost control of the bike. 
As the rope slashed Johny's neck, he was rushed to the district hospital.

It is alleged that PWD’s laxity led to the mishap. According to the locals PWD maintenance works are happening without ensuring the safety of the commuters. Contractors and officials concerned are not bothered about rampant mishaps, they criticised.
