Shoranur: In a bizarre turn of events, a thief was nabbed after falling asleep with a stolen mobile phone at the Shornur Railway Station. The incident unfolded near the 7th platform, where Prajeesh (43), a resident of Kozhikode, was caught for stealing the smartphone of Om Prakash Prabath, a Goa native.
Om Prakash, accompanied by his family, had arrived at the station in the early hours of Tuesday, intending to board a train to Mangaluru. Taking a moment to rest on a bench situated on the sixth platform, he drifted off to sleep.
Seizing the opportunity, the accused, Prajeesh, discreetly snatched the smartphone and hid it in his bag. Moving to the seventh platform, he too dozed off on another bench.
Prakash woke up realizing his phone was missing. He reported the incident to the police and a search operation was initiated on the platform which led to his arrest.
