Kozhikode: CPM demoted Thamarassery area committee member Girish John to the branch committee for ‘holding private discussions’ with IUML leader PK Kunhalikutty during Assembly Elections 2021.

Girish was a probable candidate for the Thiruvambady constituency. He was not active in the campaign as Linto Joseph was nominated by the party.

The party considered the meeting with the leader of an opposition party that contested against CPM at Thiruvambady as a serious lapse on the part of Girish.

The area committee members informed the district committee which took the decision after seeking an explanation from Girish.
