New Delhi: DGP Anil Kant asserted that the terrorist link of the accused Shahrukh Saifi, who allegedly unleashed an arson attack against the co-passengers in Alappuzha- Kannur Executive Express, cannot be confirmed at present.
“The investigation team has to find whether the attack was planned and executed alone. Imposition of charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act will be considered only after fetching entire details related to the crime,” said DGP. Currently, police cannot affirm if the accused has any criminal background, he said.
“The interrogation will commence only after completing the medical examination. The suspect’s confession to the crime can be validated only after a detailed quizzing,” he noted.
DGP added that the accused was nabbed by the combined effort of the Special Investigation Team, central investigation agencies and Maharashtra police.
