Kasaragod teacher under investigation for allegedly rupturing a student`s eardrum. Minister orders probe, emphasising no child harassment

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for General Education V Sivankutty has ordered an investigation into an incident in Kasaragod where a teacher allegedly ruptured a student’s eardrum. The Kasaragod Deputy Director will oversee the probe.
“If students make a mistake, punitive action should be taken only according to the law. Children should not be harassed under any circumstances,” the minister said.
The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights had registered a suo motu case in connection with the incident. A student of Kundamkuzhi Government Higher Secondary School in Kasaragod was reportedly beaten. The complaint names Headmaster M Ashokan. The student said he was struck after trying to remove the gravel that was in front of him while he was standing in the assembly.
