Kozhikode: Karnika Anil Kumar, a native of Pantheerankavu here, has been preparing to win the world championship in Taekwondo. She will represent India in the World University Games which will be held in China in August this year.

Karnika is a BSC final year student at Malabar Christian College in Kozhikode. She will compete in the Poomsa

Karnika, daughter of Pantheerankavu natives NK Anil Kumar and Bindhu, started learning Taekwondo while studying in 7th standard. PC Gopinath, head of the Gopi’s School of Taekwondo is her coach.

Apart from Taekwondo, she has proved her skills in monoact, Kuchippudi, drama, folk song and western dance too. She had also won second prize for mono act in the district level school youth festival.

Karnika acted in several short films and worked as a dubbing artist too. She is also working as a western dance tutor at MCBS Kala Niketan in Kozhikode.
