Gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh criticized Renu Sudhi, wife of the late mimicry artist Kollam Sudhi, over her recent photoshoot.

The controversy erupted after Renu shared festive pictures on social media in connection with Vishu celebrations. In response, Swapna took to social media stating that Renu is not the only widow in society and urged her to respect cultural sentiments.

"Is this the new 2025 VISHU??? Request you to please respect our culture. Boys say so....!! Mom would kill me if I showed my navel. Kashtam.......!!!!! Please find some other alternatives....!!!! You are not the one and only WIDOW or DIVORCE.....! Don't sell your stupidity@ Cannot replace Lord Krishna with some weird CREATION ....!," she wrote in Meta.

The post has sparked mixed reactions online, with many coming out in support of Renu. Earlier, Renu had expressed her frustration over the criticism she faced on social media. In an interview with a YouTube channel, she revealed that many people view her posts as inappropriate.

"Many wrote that a widow shouldn't behave like this. I wonder if such attitudes still exist in this day and age. The tradition of Sati was abolished years ago, so why am I being targeted like this?" Renu said.

She explained that the fear of criticism prevents her from posting more freely. "If I post a reel on Instagram, people quickly call friends to say, 'Look at what Renu is doing.' It was my late husband, Sudhi ‘chettan’, who encouraged me to create videos during the TikTok era. Now, I question whether it's wrong for me to share my life. No one sees the toll such comments take on my mental health, so I’ve decided not to pay attention to them anymore. Those who judge me offer nothing of value in return," she added.
