The incident involves 68-year-old Valsala, who had sought treatment at the hospital a year ago following food poisoning.

Kozhencherry (Pathanamthitta, Kerala): A complaint has been raised alleging negligence at the government-run Kozhencherry District Hospital after a needle fragment reportedly remained inside an elderly woman’s body during an injection procedure.
The incident involves 68-year-old Valsala, who had sought treatment at the hospital a year ago following food poisoning. She has alleged that part of the injection needle broke during the procedure and stayed lodged inside her body. She has claimed that the episode amounts to a treatment error on the part of hospital authorities.
Surgery fails to fully remove fragment
Valsala said she recently underwent surgery to remove the embedded needle fragment after the foreign object was identified in her body.
However, she stated that doctors were unable to extract it completely during the procedure. According to the complaint, the needle fragment still remains partially inside her body despite the surgical intervention.
MLA to bring matter before health minister
MLA Abin Varkey has said the matter will be brought to the attention of the Health Minister. He also stated that he would intervene directly in the case.
