Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Madhav Suresh, son of Union Minister Suresh Gopi, was briefly detained by the police on Thursday night following a road rage incident with Congress leader Vinod Krishna. He was released shortly afterwards when medical tests confirmed he had not consumed alcohol, and no formal case was filed.
The confrontation occurred around 11 pm at Sasthamangalam Junction in the city. Madhav was driving from his home in Sasthamangalam towards Vellayambalam when his vehicle came face-to-face with a car driven by Vinod Krishna, a member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee. The vehicles nearly collided, leading both men to stop and engage in a heated exchange on the roadside.
The altercation, which lasted for nearly 15 minutes, drew a crowd and caused traffic disruption in the busy junction. Police arrived on the scene after being informed by Vinod, who alleged that Madhav was under the influence of alcohol. Officers then briefly detained the actor for medical examination.
Vinod was also asked to report to the police station. Subsequent tests revealed that Madhav had not consumed alcohol. Police officials later mediated a discussion between the two parties, after which Vinod submitted a written statement saying he did not wish to pursue the matter.
