'Move out...': Suresh Gopi dodges questions about ambulance journey amid controversy | WATCH

Thrissur: Union Minister Suresh Gopi faced media scrutiny after he claimed that he did not arrived at the Thrissur pooram venue in an ambulance.

While attending an event here on Tuesday, Thrissur MP avoided questions from reporters and asked them to step aside, saying: ‘Move out, move out!’

Back in October, police launched a preliminary inquiry into allegations that Gopi misused an ambulance during the Thrissur Pooram festival held in April this year. Following this, it was alleged that Gopi arrived at the Pooram grounds in a Seva Bharati ambulance after the Thiruvambady faction temporarily paused the festival.

At a campaign event for the Chelakkara by-election, Suresh Gopi stated that he did not come to Thrissur pooram venue in an ambulance and those who claim to have seen him must have witnessed an illusion. He added that he travelled in the vehicle of the BJP district president.

Suresh Gopi called for a thorough investigation into the matter, suggesting that the CBI should look into the matter rather than Kerala Police. This statement came after BJP state president K. Surendran noted that Suresh Gopi could arrive in any vehicle, but not an ambulance, to which Gopi responded by correcting him on stage.

The incident gained attention after BJP leaders claimed he had indeed arrived in an ambulance. BJP district president K. K. Aneesh Kumar mentioned in a media conference that Suresh Gopi was brought to Thrissur in a Sevabharati ambulance because police stated they would not allow him to go otherwise. Aneesh Kumar later clarified that Gopi had only travelled a short distance in the ambulance, which was what Suresh Gopi intended to convey.
