Malappuram: A man collapsed and died while working on a paddy field at Thirunavaya here on Friday. The deceased was identified as Sudhi Kumar (45) of Thirunavaya.
Sudhi Kumar had joined several other labourers for the harvest on Friday morning. After harvesting the paddy, other labourers returned home around 9.30 am. However, Sudhi Kumar continued to work on the field.
Preliminary reports suggested that Sudhi Kumar collapsed. There were sunburn marks on his body. It is suspected that it was a case of sunstroke. However, the cause of death can be determined only after a post mortem.
Sudhi Kumar’s body has been kept in the mortuary at the Tirur District Government Hospital.
