Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Monday said that the call of Congress state president K Sudhakaran to avoid paying the additional cess announced for fuel was a mockery of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

“Pinarayi had stated that the public need not pay the tax when he was the CPM state secretary. Sudhakaran was just mocking him. It is impossible not to pay the increased amount. It is not the opinion of the party and he has clarified that,” Satheesan said.

Sudhakaran was talking about the additional cess announced in the Kerala budget.

Pinarayi had called for boycotting the payment of the increased water and land tax on September 8, 2014. He said the CPM members and followers will not pay the increased amount and the party will deal with the legal issues if any come up.
