Varappuzha (Ernakulam): The colourful walls of Kaitharam Government Higher Secondary School is a gift from its alumna. Sreenandini, who passed SSLC with full A Plus grades from this school last year, presented the beautiful gift to her alma mater with the help of her parents Ratheesh and Rekha.
Sreenandini decided to give something special for her school as soon as she left it on a proud achievement. When she discussed it with her parents, they also gave her full support. With this, the family spent the lockdown days decorating the school walls. Rekha, a government employee, and Ratheesh, an artist, also joined their daughter's venture during leisure time.
By drawing 5 hours a day, all the walls in the schools were painted with beautiful pictures within one and a half months. The pictures were drawn using enamel paint. School PTA supplied the items for painting and headmistress V C Ruby also offered all support.
It was Rekha who decided what pictures should be drawn while Ratheesh supervised colour combinations. Though they planned to paint only a classroom first, later the entire building was covered. Sreenandini is not been trained in painting, but has won national level recognitions.
