Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Tuesday snubbed its Kozhikode district secretariat member and former MLA George M Thomas for his comments on Kodanchery interfaith marriage.
George had said that 'Love Jihad' is a reality and even CPM documents warn of organised activity to convert educated women in the guise of love. However, DYFI quickly came out in public against his stand. CPM district secretary P Mohanan also refuted his statement and held a public meeting in which George corrected his statement.
However, considering the damage it did for the party among Muslims in Kerala, the party state committee asked the district committee to act against the leader.
Kodiyeri said that George's comments are against the stand of CPM on the matter.
CPM is of the position that 'Love Jihad' is political propaganda of RSS.
The district committee will convene on Wednesday. It is expected that disciplinary action will be discussed in the meeting.
